    Nonlinear Dynamic Surface Control of Chaos in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Based on the Minimum Weights of RBF Neural Network

    This paper is concerned with the problem of the nonlinear dynamic surface control (DSC) of chaos based on the minimum weights of RBF neural network for the permanent magnet synchronous motor system (PMSM) wherein the unknown parameters, disturbances, and chaos are presented. RBF neural network is used to approximate the nonlinearities and an adaptive law is employed to estimate unknown parameters. Then, a simple and effective controller is designed by introducing dynamic surface control technique on the basis of first-order filters. Asymptotically tracking stability in the sense of uniformly ultimate boundedness is achieved in a short time. Finally, the performance of the proposed controller is testified through simulation results

    Herding Effect based Attention for Personalized Time-Sync Video Recommendation

    Time-sync comment (TSC) is a new form of user-interaction review associated with real-time video contents, which contains a user's preferences for videos and therefore well suited as the data source for video recommendations. However, existing review-based recommendation methods ignore the context-dependent (generated by user-interaction), real-time, and time-sensitive properties of TSC data. To bridge the above gaps, in this paper, we use video images and users' TSCs to design an Image-Text Fusion model with a novel Herding Effect Attention mechanism (called ITF-HEA), which can predict users' favorite videos with model-based collaborative filtering. Specifically, in the HEA mechanism, we weight the context information based on the semantic similarities and time intervals between each TSC and its context, thereby considering influences of the herding effect in the model. Experiments show that ITF-HEA is on average 3.78\% higher than the state-of-the-art method upon F1-score in baselines.Comment: ACCEPTED for ORAL presentation at IEEE ICME 201

    Glass and glass ceramic electrodes and solid electrolyte materials for lithium ion batteries: A review

    Due to its distinct network structure, lack of a grain boundary, and isotropic qualities, glass has been the subject of extensive research. Lithium ion batteries can have their capacity and safety increased by using glassy electrode and electrolyte materials. We discuss the properties and uses of several types of glass and glass ceramic as anodes, including tin oxide glass, vanadium oxide glass, and so on. Metal-organic framework (MOF) materials are also investigated as a new generation of high-performance anode materials. We present the usage of glassy MOF materials to overcome MOF material volume change during charge and discharge, as well as the order and disorder transition of certain MOF materials during charge and discharge. The use of vanadium-based glass as a cathode material is also discussed. These materials have the potential to be employed as electrode materials in the next generation of lithium- ion batteries. In addition, the application of glass, especially sulfide glass, as an all-solid-state battery electrolyte and the effect of mixed anion effect on improving the conductivity of solid electrolyte were introduced.</p

    Integrated Simulation Platform for Quantifying the Traffic-Induced Environmental and Health Impacts

    Air quality and human exposure to mobile source pollutants have become major concerns in urban transportation. Existing studies mainly focus on mitigating traffic congestion and reducing carbon footprints, with limited understanding of traffic-related health impacts from the environmental justice perspective. To address this gap, we present an innovative integrated simulation platform that models traffic-related air quality and human exposure at the microscopic level. The platform consists of five modules: SUMO for traffic modeling, MOVES for emissions modeling, a 3D grid-based dispersion model, a Matlab-based concentration visualizer, and a human exposure model. Our case study on multi-modal mobility on-demand services demonstrates that a distributed pickup strategy can reduce human cancer risk associated with PM2.5 by 33.4% compared to centralized pickup. Our platform offers quantitative results of traffic-related air quality and health impacts, useful for evaluating environmental issues and improving transportation systems management and operations strategies.Comment: 35 pages, 11 figure

    Association between serum Klotho concentration and hyperlipidemia in adults: a cross-sectional study from NHANES 2007–2016

    ObjectiveThe Klotho protein is a well-documented anti-aging protein known for its diverse biological functions. Hyperlipidemia is an established independent risk factor for various chronic diseases. However, there is limited understanding of the connection between Klotho and hyperlipidemia. The aim was to assess the association between serum Klotho levels and hyperlipidemia among adults.MethodsThe study included 11,618 individuals from the NHANES database from 2006 to 2017. Hyperlipidemia was diagnosed following the National Cholesterol Education Program guidelines. Serum Klotho concentration was measured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit, and the association between Klotho and hyperlipidemia was assessed by a multivariable logistic regression model. Fitted smoothing curves and threshold-effect analysis were employed to describe nonlinear relationships.ResultsIn our multiple logistic regression models, serum Klotho concentration was significantly associated with hyperlipidemia after adjusting for comprehensive confounders (per SD increment odds ratio (OR): 0.91; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.86–0.97). Compared to individuals in the lowest Klotho quartile, those in the highest quartile exhibited a substantially decreased prevalence of hyperlipidemia (OR: 0.72; 95% CI: 0.58–0.90). Using a two-segment logistic regression model, we identified a U-shaped relationship between serum Klotho concentration and hyperlipidemia, with an inflection point at 1,365.5 pg/mL. Subgroup analysis did not reveal any potential moderating effects.ConclusionThis study revealed an inverse relationship between Klotho levels and hyperlipidemia. Further investigation is warranted to explore the underlying mechanism between serum Klotho and hyperlipidemia

    A case of complex mechanical asphyxia due to physical restraint and gagging in an obese man

    Abstract: Death from positional asphyxia by physical restraint takes place when the abnormal position of the victim&apos;s body compromises the process of respiration. Dying in a supine restraint position is rare. The term &apos;&apos;gagging&apos;&apos; describes the blockage of the internal airways by ramming certain objects into the mouth. Here, we report the case of a 47-year-old obese man who had been kidnapped and was found dead in a supine position with limbs bound together in the back and the mouth gagged with stick. Apart from a very low level of the drug estazolam, and mild trauma on the body surface, autopsy findings were unremarkable. There were no injuries or pathological findings to account for his death. The cause of death was certified as mechanical asphyxia following gagging and restraint in a supine position. The victim&apos;s obesity is a co-factor in hastening his death

    Comparative genomic analyses of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae pathogenic 168 strain and its high-passaged attenuated strain

    Background: Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae is the causative agent of porcine enzootic pneumonia (EP), a mild, chronic pneumonia of swine. Despite presenting with low direct mortality, EP is responsible for major economic losses in the pig industry. To identify the virulence-associated determinants of M. hyopneumoniae, we determined the whole genome sequence of M. hyopneumoniae strain 168 and its attenuated high-passage strain 168-L and carried out comparative genomic analyses. Results: We performed the first comprehensive analysis of M. hyopneumoniae strain 168 and its attenuated strain and made a preliminary survey of coding sequences (CDSs) that may be related to virulence. The 168-L genome has a highly similar gene content and order to that of 168, but is 4,483 bp smaller because there are 60 insertions and 43 deletions in 168-L. Besides these indels, 227 single nucleotide variations (SNVs) were identified. We further investigated the variants that affected CDSs, and compared them to reported virulence determinants. Notably, almost all of the reported virulence determinants are included in these variants affected CDSs. In addition to variations previously described in mycoplasma adhesins (P97, P102, P146, P159, P216, and LppT), cell envelope proteins (P95), cell surface antigens (P36), secreted proteins and chaperone protein (DnaK), mutations in genes related to metabolism and growth may also contribute to the attenuated virulence in 168-L. Furthermore, many mutations were located in the previously described repeat motif, which may be of primary importance for virulence. Conclusions: We studied the virulence attenuation mechanism of M. hyopneumoniae by comparative genomic analysis of virulent strain 168 and its attenuated high-passage strain 168-L. Our findings provide a preliminary survey of CDSs that may be related to virulence. While these include reported virulence-related genes, other novel virulence determinants were also detected. This new information will form the foundation of future investigations into the pathogenesis of M. hyopneumoniae and facilitate the design of new vaccines

    Evidence of Noncollinear Spin Texture in Magnetic Moir\'e Superlattices

    Moir\'e magnetism, parallel with moir\'e electronics that has led to novel correlated and topological electronic states, emerges as a new venue to design and control exotic magnetic phases in twisted magnetic two-dimensional(2D) crystals. Here, we report direct evidence of noncollinear spin texture in 2D twisted double bilayer (tDB) magnet chromium triiodide (CrI3_3). Using magneto-optical spectroscopy in tDB CrI3_3, we revealed the presence of a net magnetization, unexpected from the composing antiferromagnetic bilayers with compensated magnetizations, and the emergence of noncollinear spins, originated from the moir\'e exchange coupling-induced spin frustrations. Exploring the twist angle dependence, we demonstrated that both features are present in tDB CrI3_3 with twist angles from 0.5o^o to 5o^o, but are most prominent in the 1.1o^o tDB CrI3_3. Focusing on the temperature dependence of the 1.1o^o tDB CrI3_3, we resolved the dramatic suppression in the net magnetization onset temperature and the significant softening of noncollinear spins, as a result of the moir\'e induced frustration. Our results demonstrate the power of moir\'e superlattices in introducing novel magnetic phenomena that are absent in natural 2D magnets
